FALL PROGRAM:
OBGC will host the Scott McBrien Football Skills Camp at the OBGC Park on Monday, July 26th from 6:00 - 8:00pm. The cost is $20 per person, players and coaches. Scott McBrien will not only work the players out with passing and receiving drills, he'll teach the coaches technique drills for quarterbacks and receivers that can be used in team practices. The camp is open for all football players, not just quarterbacks and receivers.
Registration will be at the OBGC Park on Monday evening. Players should wear shorts, tshirts and football cleats. Questions should be directed to Sal Gorgone or Sam Silverman at football@obgc.com
Football program fee is $180 for fall 2010. Teams will be based on skill level of each child, more experienced playing in Division A, less experienced in Division B. Teams will play 8 – 9 regular season games and have year-end playoffs.
Mid Maryland Champions will compete in the Maryland State Champions, with the final game played at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens!
SEASON/PRACTICES:
Travel Football practice will begin July 28th at Farquhar Middle School. Please be prompt, wearing t-shirt, shorts, football cleats and mouthpiece. Remember to bring plenty of water! Summer practices are extremely important and essential to your child’s development in the program. They need to be there, practices are typically 4-5 days a week, once school begins practices are cut back to 2 -3 nights per week. Games are played on Saturdays at OBGC Freeman Field, or the opponent’s field as determined by the schedule.
COACHES:
All teams have a Head Coach, several assistant coaches and a Team Administrator. While they are volunteers, all coaches are required to attend NYSCA training programs (available thru the club on-line), submit to a background check and keep abreast of age and sport specific coaching techniques. EQUIPMENT:
Uniforms, pads, helmets and one (1) mouthpiece are provided by OBGC. Players are required to wear an athletic supporter/cup and have approved non-metal tipped football cleats. There is $100, refundable equipment deposit due at the time equipment is issued. There are no exceptions!
OBGC REQUIRED FORMS: Forms can be downloaded from the OBGC website.
- MVA issued identification card – obtained with a certified birth certificate and social security card through any MVA office(including MVA Express). These are required at the official weigh-in and at each game.
- Medical form – Medical Form click here Physical must be valid as of 1/1/10. The attached Howard County form is correct, the Mid-Maryland league is run by the Howard County government. The Montgomery county form from last year will also work.
- Parent & Player Code of Conduct Form – Must be signed for the child to participate. There is a Zero-Tolerance Policy in effect for any violations of the Code of Conduct on the part of any parent or player.
All required forms must be brought to the field on the first day of practice to ensure your child is eligible to participate in the football program. Please plan ahead of time to arrange to have your ID and physical prior to July 28. It is sometimes difficult to get these during the summer!
