The
Board of Directors is pleased to announce that your efforts
in support of our request to obtain a
$400,000 MD State Grant for safety and accessibility
improvements at the Park has been successful.
More
than 2,500 OBGC families sent emails to our State representatives
during our Spring registration process asking for their
support and they heard our voice. Numerous State
representatives, including Senator Rona Kramer and Delegate
Anne Kaiser (who co-sponsored the Bond Bill ) voiced
their public support of our request and the families
and kids in Olney by pushing for our requests passage.
Delegate Karen Montgomery and Delegate Herman Taylor also
supported OBGC's Bond Bill.
The grant
will be used to install fencing at the baseball complex
to better protect spectators from foul balls, fencing
around the storm water management ponds, and an emergency
vehicle path and paved walkways around the park to
improve accessibility for our elderly and disabled guests.
In addition, we plan to build at least one more restroom/concession stand so
children will no longer have to walk through the busy parking
lot to use the restroom.
The
Board of Directors would like to thank all of you who
helped in the effort to keep our kids safe by clicking the
"I support" button during registration. Our State representatives
heard a very pointed and organized voice from OBGC's
families and they responded to our concerns in
a positive and meaningful way. Congratulations
to all of you!!!
